TOTP Authenticator

Last updated: May 20, 2026

This policy explains how the TOTP Authenticator app, package net.inettools.totp, handles data when you store TOTP accounts, add accounts with a QR code, generate one-time codes, copy codes, and change interface settings.

Developer and Contact

The app is published by InetTools. For privacy questions, contact us at support@inettools.net.

Data We Process

You may save a service name, account name, Base32 secret, algorithm, digit count, and refresh period. This data can be entered manually or read from an otpauth://totp QR code. It is used only to generate TOTP codes locally on your device.

Local Secret Storage

TOTP secrets and account parameters are stored locally in the protected system storage of the device. QR codes are processed on the device; camera images are not saved by the app and are not sent to InetTools servers. The app does not send TOTP secrets, accounts, or generated codes to InetTools servers.

Data Collection, Sharing, and Sale

TOTP secrets, accounts, and generated codes are not sent to InetTools servers or third parties. The app uses AppMetrica for product analytics and Sentry for stability diagnostics; these SDKs may receive technical device details, app version, session, launch event, and error information. We do not sell users' personal data.

Clipboard

When you tap a code, the app copies it to the system clipboard. Further clipboard handling depends on the operating system and other apps installed on the device.

Settings, Analytics, and Advertising

The app may locally store the selected interface theme. Camera permission is used only to scan a QR code when adding a TOTP account. The app does not use advertising SDKs, the advertising ID, payment data, contacts, microphone, or location. AppMetrica is configured without location tracking, and the Android build excludes the advertising identifier module.

Data Deletion

You can delete individual TOTP accounts inside the app or remove all local app data through Android system settings. After local data is removed, InetTools has no server-side copy of your TOTP secrets.

Security and Changes

The security of TOTP secrets depends on device protection, screen lock, system storage, and user actions. We may update this policy when the app or legal requirements change. The updated version will be published on this page.
